Manor Sware is a Memorial woodland in the making….

It has been carefully planned to create a beautiful, diverse and uplifting green burial ground in which to remember a loved one. You can choose a natural resting place for yourself or your loved one, in a wildlife friendly habitat. A peaceful space for your family to experience a memorable and reflective end-of-life ritual.

  • For all

    The woodland is available for people of all beliefs and faiths. There is no fixed ceremony format, so that you can plan something entirely bespoke and take as little or as much time as you need. ‘The Oak Shieling’, is a lovely place to shelter in less clement weather.

  • Options

    We have a choice of trees and plots for you to choose from. Each plot is for one ashes interment; however, you can reserve neighbouring plots for partners, other members of the family, or friends.

    The plot can be pre-purchased if desired and includes entry into the Book of Remembrance on-line.

  • Memorials

    To mark the grave, families have the option of adopting a Memorial Tree in a woodland area, or choosing a Meadow Plot, situated in the open space designated for wildflowers.

     To establish the woodland, trees have already been planted in the burial ground, a current list of which can be provided.

    Families may also decide to place an inscribed memorial stone laid flush with the ground along the Timeline in the main avenue leading from the Oak Sheiling towards Peebles.

No motion has she now, no force;
She neither hears nor sees;
Rolled round in earth's diurnal course,
With rocks, and stones, and trees.

— William Wordsworth (1770-1850)
